Overview

Diamond Schmitt Architects (DSA) and EXP Engineering and Architectural Services (EXP) are supporting the redesign and construction of the Atlantic Science Enterprise Centre (ASEC). ASEC is a federal building that hosts labs and science facilities serving the Atlantic region. The redesign aims to create a world-class facility for research and education with a focus on understanding, protecting and sustaining Atlantic freshwater and coastal ecosystems in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and Atlantic Ocean regions.

The project is located in Moncton and emphasizes intensive collaboration with Indigenous communities, employees and regional partners. This includes a strong focus on inclusion and community engagement. The project is expected to be completed in 2031 and offers summer employment opportunities for Indigenous students to support the team and act as a liaison between the teams and the community.

Your Opportunity

If you are passionate about architecture and engaging Indigenous communities, this opportunity is for you!

You will be part of the Diamond Schmitt/EXP Design team and work on the redesign and construction of the ASEC. The position will be based in the Moncton offices of EXP, with the potential to be based in EXP’s Fredericton or Saint John offices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Design Team with administrative functions and processes
  • Build relationships with multiple teams and with Indigenous communities
  • Help present the project to various audiences and attend networking events, career fairs, or other events planned in connection with the ASEC project
  • Assist with graphic design and social media; act as an assistant liaison between the design team, Indigenous participants and partners
  • Organize and communicate with Indigenous partners, communities and stakeholders
  • Support other projects the design team is working on, when possible
  • Liaise with sub-consultants and subcontractors
Qualifications
  • An interest in architecture, engineering and community engagement
  • A technical background in architecture, engineering field or construction would be considered an asset
  • High school diploma, preferred
  • Pursuing, or intend to pursue post-secondary or a technical program
  • Strong communication skills
  • Organized and able to prioritize tasks
  • Basic understanding and capability with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn new software applications
