Title: Income Assistance Outreach Coordinator

Summary of Function
The Income Assistance Outreach Co-ordinator supports clients accessing Income Assistance programs and services. This role involves providing culturally appropriate case management, advocacy, referrals, and holistic support to clients experiencing financial, social, and personal challenges. The worker collaborates with community agencies, government programs, and traditional knowledge keepers to ensure services are delivered in ways that respect Indigenous values, traditions, and self-determination.
Job Duties
- Support intake, case managers in assessment, and individualized case planning for clients receiving or applying for income assistance.
- Assist clients in navigating income assistance policies, eligibility requirements, and related programs.
- Support clients with housing, food security, employment, education, training and mental health-related and addiction referrals.
- Advocate for clients to ensure fair treatment and equitable access to services.
- Maintain accurate, confidential case files and documentation.
- Integrate Indigenous cultural values, teachings, and traditions into service delivery.
- Connect clients with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and cultural supports when appropriate.
- Build relationships with other communities, organizations, and service providers.
- Support community-based healing initiatives, gatherings, support groups and outreach activities.
- Assist clients in understanding their rights and responsibilities under income assistance programs.
- Liaise with government agencies, housing providers, and health services to reduce barriers for Indigenous clients.
- Identify systemic gaps and advocate for culturally safe policies and practices.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and training sessions.
- Ensure high level of confidentiality and ethical principles
- Ensure all documentation, statistics, case notes, referrals etc. are well maintained and respectful of the governing policies and procedures
- Contribute to program development and evaluation from an Indigenous perspective.
- Provide outreach to community members who may not be accessing existing services.

Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Social Work, Indigenous Studies, Human Services, or related field, or equivalent lived/community experience.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and clients accessing social assistance.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if travel is required).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if needed.
- Ability to pass a criminal background/Vulnerable Sector check.
