The Opportunity

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist will play a key role in supporting both employees and leadership across all HR functions. This position involves full-cycle recruitment, labour relations, training, accommodation, employee engagement initiatives, and performance management. The ideal candidate will bring integrity, strong interpersonal skills, and a service‑oriented approach to fostering a positive and productive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance to Supervisors on employee relations matters, including attendance, misconduct, collective agreement interpretation, and policy application.
  • Conduct and document workplace investigations regarding performance, misconduct, and/or harassment, and provide recommendations.
  • Perform full-cycle recruitment for salaried and hourly positions, including onboarding and orientation.
  • Coordinate employee training, certification requirements, and workshops.
  • Deliver training sessions for both hourly employees and management.
  • Manage absenteeism reporting and case management for WSIB and STD/LTD claims.
  • Oversee accommodation and return-to-work processes in compliance with legislation.
  • Develop, organize, and implement employee engagement and community initiatives.
  • Analyze HR processes and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Promote and model a safe, positive, and inclusive workplace culture.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Post‑secondary education in Human Resources; CHRP designation (or actively pursuing) preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of HR experience in a unionized environment; manufacturing experience is an asset.
  • At least 5 years of experience in labour relations investigations.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience conducting full-cycle hourly and salaried recruitment.
  • 3+ years of experience managing WSIB and STD/LTD claims.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation (ESA, Human Rights Code, OHSA).
  • Experience leading employee engagement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ADP and Synerion is an asset.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and service‑focused.
  • Ability to work onsite at the plant full‑time.
