Unit Summary

The HR Operations team is accountable for the delivery of operational and strategic HR support to HHS leaders, physicians and employees. The team is comprised of a diverse group of high performing HR professionals including various HR Operations roles. This team is part of the broader Human Resources Portfolio that includes Health Safety and Wellness, HR Support Services, Employee & Labour Relations, Organizational Development and Human Rights & Diversity. This portfolio provides leadership, strategy and all operational programs and functions related to the workforce at Hamilton Health Sciences.

Position Summary

The HR Operations Coordinator provides hands on, consistent support for high volume end to end HR transactional activities (recruitment, onboarding, leaves of absence, transfers, separation, retirement, etc.) for a specific client portfolio. The HR Operations Coordinator team supports over 12,000 Hamilton Health Sciences’ and Affiliate employees and leaders. The Coordinator delivers a consistent set of HR transactional and advisory services through multiple channels (telephone, online, in-person) to support a positive client experience. The Coordinator acts as a primary point of contact for employee / leader inquiries / issues. The Coordinator ensures that inquiries / issues are addressed, investigated, and resolved in a timely and consistent manner. This involves working closely with members of the HR Shared Services team, HR Services and Labour Relations, and other stakeholders as required. The Coordinator provides regular support for timely and accurate pay processing and investigations. The Coordinator plays a key role in supporting HR data management and integrity.

Schedule Work Hours

Days, Monday to Friday with willingness to be flexible with working hours to suit operational requirements. 37.5 hours per week. This position is hybrid.

This position is temporary until July 2026.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years Human Resources operations (including end-to-end client services, benefits, compensation, and payroll) experience within a multi-union / nonunion environment.
  • 2-3 years HRIS (PeopleSoft, Oracle) and Taleo experience.
  • 2-3 years data entry and data management experience.
  • 2-3 years in a client / customer facing role.
  • University Degree (Business, Human Resources, other relevant).
  • Certified Human Resources Professional / Leader (CHRP / CHRL) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HR operations including payroll, defined benefit pensions, benefits, compensation, labour relations (including collective agreement administration), full employee life cycle transactional processes (onboarding, recruitment, leaves of absence, separation, etc.), and relevant legislation / regulatory requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of Collective Agreements and HHS policies, with the ability to apply provisions in an accurate and consistent manner.
  • Strong technical skills using Oracle Cloud, Taleo, and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent abilities in critical thinking, problem analysis, and solution development.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle stressful issues and communicate with a variety of people and situations in a courteous, professional manner
  • Ability to work with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently, organize and establish priorities and ensure project and task deadlines are met.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation
