This role operates administratively in a Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Setting, defined as “medical, social, and supportive services for Iowans with functional, cognitive, and other physical or mental health needs” (Iowa Health & Human Services). HCBS settings provide these individuals with the opportunity to live and receive services in a way honoring to them and their abilities.
Overview
HCBS Supervisors provide leadership to a team focused on providing the best care possible. You’ll guide a team in fulfilling the mission of empowering people to reach individual achievement across the spectrum of life. As a core team member, you’ll be responsible for keeping updated records, making decisions in compliance with rules and regulations from governing bodies, and implementing services that emphasize individual choice and decision making. Your consistent leadership will provide your team with the trusted foundation they need to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve.
What Winning Looks Like
In this role, you’ll be responsible to:
- Create and maintain the team culture which may include collaboration with Imagines Recruitment Team to hire the best team members for the job; supervise the Direct Support Professional team; collaborate with Imagine’s Training Team to provide the best training; schedule the team to meet the needs of the people we serve; be actively present with your team, including weekly site visits and follow-up; conduct monthly team meetings; provide coaching opportunities; agree to be placed on-call as required and fill in for the team when needed; be available on short notice to fill gaps in the schedule; compensation for on-call duties will be paid as stipends based on rotation per department guidelines; mileage reimbursement is available for on-call duties outside regular hours.
- Overseeing resources which may include monitoring and scheduling vehicle usage for services; monitoring budgets for individuals served as outlined in their financial plan by the Representative Payee Coordinator; supporting individuals in communication with and fulfilling responsibilities with their Representative Payee Coordinator; overseeing balances, ledgers, receipts, and special requests forms in collaboration with the Representative Payee Team; monitoring medication check-ins; monitoring appointment scheduling and follow-up communication; collaborate with Strategic Advancement to promote local community partnerships and Imagine’s services.
- Demonstrate knowledge or willingness to learn and comply with all policies, practices, laws, and rules provided by governing bodies in the industry.
- Provide complete, consistent, and accurate documentation of incident reports, investigations, and service documentation.
- Be an advocate for individuals receiving services to have as much control over their own lives as possible. All individuals should be treated with respect and empowered to live independently where possible.

- Minimum Requirement: This position requires you to be at least 18 years old.
- Driver’s License: Responsible for transportation at times; safe behind the wheel.
- Reliable Transportation: You must have reliable transportation and proof that your automobile insurance covers 100,000/300,000/50,000 liability.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Work Authorization: Candidates must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
