A Canadian supplemental education provider is seeking part-time High School Math/Science Teacher-Tutors in Calgary. Ideal candidates should have a Bachelor's degree and experience tutoring Grades 9-12. Responsibilities include teaching up to 3 students at a time, following pre-planned lessons, and maintaining communication with students. The role requires evening and some Saturday availability with a pay of $17/hour.

Overview

High School Math/Science Teacher/Tutor Wanted

Gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning Calgary Sage Hill is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a math and/or science teaching role in our learning centre. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with students, loves numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas.

Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to plan lessons before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements

All Teacher-Tutors work during after-school and evening hours (4:00pm - 8:00pm) and some Saturdays (9:00am - 1:00pm). A commitment until the end of the term in June is preferred; continuing through the summer is an added benefit. Reliability is essential.

This role is in-person. You must be able to commute to this location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not offered.

Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • University students with tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification is an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum
  • Proficiency in Physics, Chemistry, and/or Biology is an asset
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities (Position Details)

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with the following responsibilities:

  • Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teaching online and in-person
  • Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
