Qualifications

Job description

Victor Energy Ltd is a powerline contractor with over 30 years of experience building Alberta's electrical infrastructure. Recently acquired by Java Holdings Ltd., whose staff have over 50 years of experience on some of Canada's largest electrical projects, we are seeking qualified Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technicians.

Job Description

Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Heavy Equipment Technician will diagnose and repair Victor Energy's heavy equipment, including excavators, digger derrick booms, skid steers, drive heads, loaders, picker trucks, tracked carriers, semi-trucks, and support vehicles. The technician must troubleshoot both major and minor mechanical issues, repairing and adjusting mechanical components and hydraulic systems. Willingness to travel and work away from home is required.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will ensure the company's equipment is maintained in good condition through inspection, diagnosis, repair, and servicing of the fleet in the shop. Obtaining quotes for parts needed for repairs may be necessary.

Requirements
  • Class 5 driver's license with an acceptable abstract; Class 1 license preferred and reliable transportation
  • Experience with off-road equipment, trucks, transport, automotive, and small engines
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing Caterpillar, John Deere, Kenworth, Freightliner, and other equipment
  • Routine maintenance experience
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools such as Cat ET, Cummins, Navistar, SIS 2.0
  • Willingness to work overtime when required
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work in the field and be away from home for extended periods
  • Own tools and toolbox
