Qualifications

Heavy Duty Mechanic

We are currently seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Valleyview, AB. In this role, you will be responsible for performing mechanical maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on facility and manufacturing equipment. This includes interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and applying knowledge of relevant codes and safety standards.

Work will take place both in our shop and on customer sites as required, providing a dynamic mix of in-house and field responsibilities. A valid Class 5 driver’s license with strong defensive driving skills is mandatory for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to safely move materials
  • Test, assemble, prepare, and install mechanical components for stationary and mobile equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems and equipment
  • Complete cleaning and general maintenance of machines and workspace
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics to determine work procedures
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports, logs, and mechanical documentation
  • Perform basic electrical maintenance as required
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Work flexible hours in a 24/7 environment when required
  • Travel frequently to customer locations for field service work
  • Respond to emergency service calls when needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures
  • Enrolled Apprentice or Journeyperson status through Alberta Industry Training (asset, not mandatory)
  • Class 3 or Class 1 Operator’s License with proven defensive driving skills (required)
  • Solid background in industrial manufacturing and mechanical repair
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Basic knowledge of diesel engines
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial mechanical/electrical troubleshooting and repair, including power generation, alternators, and control systems
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and apply previous experience to new tasks
  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Must be comfortable working alone while following company lone‑worker protocols
  • Physical activities include: squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, climbing ladders/stairs, walking on uneven surfaces, working near moving equipment, and working at heights
