Job summary

A leading construction services provider in Edmonton is seeking skilled individuals for roles involving assembly, rigging, and maintenance. Ideal candidates will have a Heavy-Duty Technician Journeyperson certificate and experience in industrial settings. Responsibilities include assembling equipment, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and ensuring safety compliance. This is a full-time position with a 5/2 rotation schedule, and requires a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with assembly/erection, bolt-up, alignment, rigging, and material handling on industrial or construction projects.
  • Strong mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills; basic electrical knowledge is an asset.
  • Comfortable working outdoors, at heights, and in a construction/yard environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills required.
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding work for extended durations.
  • Must be able to complete all pre-access training prior to mobilization.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and erect equipment, frames, skids, and structural components from drawings.
  • Perform bolt-up, torquing/tensioning of connections.
  • Align shafts and other components using appropriate tools.
  • Plan and execute safe lifts using cranes and other equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic problems and perform minor repairs.
  • Work in strict compliance with company safety policies.

DESCRIPTION OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assemble and erect equipment, frames, skids and structural components from drawings and work instructions.
  • Perform bolt-up, torquing/tensioning of mechanical and structural connections to specified procedures.
  • Align shafts, couplings, gearboxes, rollers and other components using appropriate tools (levels, straight edges, gauges, dial indicators).
Rigging & Material Handling
  • Plan and execute safe lifts using cranes, telehandlers, forklifts, hoists and manual rigging gear.
  • Select, inspect and use slings, shackles and rigging hardware; signal operators and control loads.
  • Support loading/unloading and placement of trucks, sea cans and modular units.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic problems and basic electrical issues (sensors, limit switches, connections).
  • Perform minor repairs, adjustments and component replacements; complete pre-start inspections and routine maintenance on site equipment.
Documentation, Quality & Safety
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly diagrams and load charts.
  • Complete work orders, torque records, inspection checklists and JSAs.
  • Work in strict compliance with company safety policies, lock-out/tag-out and safe lifting/rigging practices.
Job Requirements
  • Proven experience with assembly/erection, bolt-up, alignment, rigging and material handling on industrial or construction projects.
  • Strong mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills; basic electrical an asset.
  • Comfortable working outdoors, at heights and in a construction/yard environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills required.
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding work for a long duration of time.
  • Must be able to perform duties at heights.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to complete all pre-access training as identified prior to mobilization.
  • Heavy‑Duty Technician Journeyperson certificate from a recognized provincial training authority.
  • Forklift, telehandler, aerial work platform and/or overhead crane tickets are assets.
