Overview

Health Care Aide - Casual Part Time at AgeCare Jasper Place. At AgeCare, our mission is to empower residents to live their lives to the fullest by prioritizing their health and well-being. We provide a comfortable, person-centered environment in long-term care. This role involves supporting residents with personal care under the guidance of a supervisor while adhering to regulatory standards, policies and procedures.

What You Will Do
  • Respond to resident/client/family concerns and ensure appropriate action is taken within your decision-making authority or escalate to your supervisor as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment, including residents’ equipment, belongings and nursing equipment.
  • Observe and report safety concerns to the Client Service Supervisor, implement directed interventions, and advocate for client safety.
  • Engage with other agencies involved in resident/client care as directed.
  • Attend in-services to develop knowledge and skills.
  • Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents).
  • Uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating to ethics, morality and integrity as set out in the Code of Conduct.
What You Will Need
  • Graduate of Health Care Aide program (or provincial equivalent certificate program with minimum 500 hours of theory & practicum).
  • Experience working with seniors in the community health services setting.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer-focus skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide personal care duties.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification recommended.
  • Ability to perform tasks necessary for the position (e.g., lifting/transferring clients).
  • Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
