Job Overview

The GIS Analyst plays a key role in delivering high‑quality GIS products and solutions that support internal teams and external stakeholders. This position is responsible for managing and prioritizing a diverse range of GIS requests, producing accurate mapping and spatial data deliverables, and supporting enterprise GIS applications and workflows. The role emphasizes hands‑on GIS production, ArcGIS Enterprise support, Experience Builder and Dashboard maintenance, and the development of automation solutions to improve efficiency. The GIS Analyst operates independently in a fast‑paced environment while collaborating closely with Project Managers, clients, and cross‑functional teams. Meeting utilization targets and maintaining strong communication and stakeholder relationships are critical to success in this role. This position requires availability to work from the Calgary office, with an initial strong in‑office presence (4–5 days per week) to support collaboration and project delivery. Over time, there may be potential for increased flexibility.

Responsibilities
GIS Production & Delivery
  • Receive, prioritize, and deliver a wide variety of GIS and mapping requests within defined timelines.
  • Produce high‑quality GIS outputs including PDF, KMZ, Shapefiles, and Enterprise Geodatabase feature classes using ArcGIS Pro.
  • Perform regular quality control checks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with standards.
  • Georeference imagery and digitize parcels and spatial features to support project mapping needs.
ArcGIS Enterprise & Web Applications
  • Upload, manage, and maintain data within ArcGIS Enterprise portals, groups, and web maps.
  • Create, update, and maintain Experience Builder and Dashboard applications using established templates.
  • Support enterprise GIS data loads, updates, and service performance.
Automation & Process Improvement
  • Design, build, and maintain automations, scripts, and workflows (Python, Power Automate) to streamline repetitive GIS tasks.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, turnaround times, and data reliability across GIS workflows.
Project & Stakeholder Support
  • Provide GIS subject matter expertise to Project Managers and project teams on spatial data requirements, costs, and deployment.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external clients to support project outcomes and ensure alignment with requirements.
  • Support business development and project execution through GIS analysis and data insights.
Operations & Professional Development
  • Independently manage workload and priorities in a high‑volume GIS production environment.
  • Achieve defined utilization targets for labor and unit‑based work.
  • Participate in assigned training and professional development opportunities, including potential conference travel.
  • Maintain strong professional standards, confidentiality, and effective communication.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in GIS or related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of experience working in an Esri‑based GIS environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, Experience Builder, and Dashboards.
  • Experience with Java scripting or Experience Builder Developer’s Toolkit would be beneficial but not required.
  • Experience working with Enterprise Geodatabases, spatial data standards, and quality assurance processes.
  • Proficiency with GIS automation and workflow tools such as Python and Power Automate.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a high level of attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, project managers, and external stakeholders.
  • Adaptable and responsive to changing priorities while maintaining high standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
