A leading mining company in the Kivalliq Region is seeking a qualified geologist to provide crucial geological models and data to optimize mineral resource and mining production. Responsibilities include maintaining models, assisting in mineral resource activities, and contributing to technical reporting. The ideal candidate has 5-8 years of geological experience, with qualifications to register with NAPEG, and proficiency in software such as Datamine and Leapfrog. This position involves a hybrid working schedule, requiring minimal office presence.
Reporting to the Resource Geology Supervisor, you will be part of the Geology Department. You will play an important role providing quality geological models and information to mine operations & exploration to optimize mineral resource and mining production. You will also play an important role in drill hole targeting, planning and follow-up, resources evaluation execution, data validation, reconciliation, as well as ensuring compliance with QA/QC. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the Environment.
Manage tasks and projects as assigned by the Resource Geology Supervisor.
Update/maintain 3D lithological, structural and mineralization models with the latest data and information.
Assist the Resource Geology Supervisor and team for all activities of the Mineral Resources & Mineral Reserves process.
Contribute to team development by taking on various responsibilities, as needed, regarding QAQC, database management, process development, projects and studies, CMS evaluations, production stope processes (production block model runs, final call exercises etc.)
Respond to reconciliation needs by executing investigation and testing.
Provide information to other teams, as needed, such as geological recommendations and drilling targets.
Proactive in identifying areas and processes for optimization and assist in implementing analysis and procedural changes.
Contribute to technical reporting, procedures and guides.
Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday; a combination of tele-working with presence at our offices in either Val d’Or or Mirabel, QC. Occasional visits to site may also be required.
