Our client is currently seeking a General Accountant to join their busy accounting & taxation services firm located in Owen Sound, ON. This position is a Full-Time, permanent in office role. Straight days Monday to Friday with annual salary starting between $80,000 to $130,000 salary based on experience.

About The Role

As a General Accountant, this position requires a comprehensive and detail-oriented approach to helping clients manage, optimize, and understand their finances. The selected candidate will be preparing accurate financial statements, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and offering strategic guidance that supports both individual and business taxation goals. Key accountabilities include responsibility for the overall planning, directing, and management of all accounting functions at the facility. Other duties may include:

Personal Financial Services
  • Preparing & Filing Personal Income Tax Returns, Ensuring Accuracy & Compliance with Tax Laws
  • Providing Tax Planning Strategies to Minimize Liabilities & Maximize Deductions & Credits
  • Advising Clients on Personal Budgeting, Cash Flow & Financial Organization
  • Reviewing Investment Income, Capital Gains & Retirement Planning Considerations
  • Responding to CRA Inquiries or Audits on Behalf of Clients
Business Financial Services
  • Preparing & Filing Corporate, Partnership & Sole-Proprietor Tax Returns
  • Maintaining & Reviewing Financial Statements
  • Providing Bookkeeping Oversight, Reconciliations & General Ledger Management
  • Supporting Payroll Processing, HST/GST Filings & Statutory Remittances
  • Assisting with Business Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash-Flow Management
  • Advising on Business Structure & Tax Efficiency
  • Supporting Year-End Planning & Financial Audits or Reviews
Advisory & Client Support
  • Acting as a Trusted Advisor to Individuals & Business Owners
  • Identifying Opportunities for Tax Savings, Cost Reduction & Financial Optimization
  • Ensuring Compliance with Federal & Provincial Tax Regulations
  • Providing Guidance on Business Growth, Succession & Exit Planning
  • Maintaining Strong Client Relationships Through Clear communication & Proactive Service
Compliance & Professional Standards
  • Staying Current with Tax Laws, Accounting Standards & Regulatory Changes
  • Ensuring Confidentiality & Ethical Handling of Sensitive Financial information
  • Maintaining Accurate Records in Accordance with Professional Accounting Standards
Requirements
  • CPA Designation Required
  • Minimum Five Years Experience in a Management Role
  • Two Years or More Experience in Accounting or Finance Environment
  • Proficiency with Accounting Software
  • Knowledge of Automated Financial & Accounting Reporting Systems
  • Knowledge of Federal & Provincial Tax Regulations
  • Ability To Analyze Financial Data & Prepare Financial Reports, Statements & Projections
  • Working Knowledge of Short & Long Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Team Player With Strong Written & Verbal Communication/Interpersonal Skills

This role would be a great fit for someone with experience as an Accountant, Financial Analyst, Auditor, Tax Preparer, Forensic Accountant, CFO, Controller, or Director of Finance.
