Fundraising & Partnerships Coordinator

Organization: The Gaia Project

Location: Hybrid (Fredericton-based office)

  • Term: One-year contract (with potential to extend)
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, flexible hours; some evenings/weekends for events
  • Travel: Occasional travel within NB (~5 times/year)
  • Compensation: $27–$33/hour (37.5 hrs/week); health benefits and professional development after 6 months
  • Start Date: Flexible (Ideal March 2026)
About Us

The Gaia Project helps youth drive climate action through hands‑on education in K‑12 New Brunswick schools. Last year, we reached over 250 schools and thousands of students, teaching practical solutions for climate change, energy, and waste reduction.

As a New Brunswick-based charity, we offer free experiential programs that build skills and inspire meaningful action. With a bilingual team and strong provincial partnerships, we’re shaping a sustainable future – one classroom at a time.

About The Role

We are looking for a curious and motivated communicator to support our fundraising and partnership efforts. You will work closely with the Executive Director and Program Director to research funding opportunities, craft compelling proposals, and help strengthen relationships with partners.

If you love writing, care about the planet, and want to learn how nonprofit fundraising really works, this role is for you. You’ll gain hands‑on experience in grant writing, sponsorships, and nonprofit strategy, with coaching and mentorship to help you grow into a leadership role over time.

No two days will look the same – this is a dynamic, creative role where you work directly impacts climate education across New Brunswick.

What You Will Do
  • Draft and support grant applications, sponsorship proposals, and donor updates
  • Research new funding opportunities (government, foundation, and corporate)
  • Coordinate sponsorship outreach for education conferences and youth events
  • Prepare partnership materials, letters, and briefing notes
  • Maintain tracking systems for grants, partners, and reporting deadlines
  • Assist with budgets, data collection, and reporting requirements
  • Help us tell our story and grow our impact through strategic, persuasive writing

  • Love writing and can express ideas clearly and persuasively
  • Are detail‑oriented, organized, and good at following through
  • Enjoy research and aren’t afraid to dive into new topics
  • Are fluent in English and comfortable reading and understanding French
  • Care deeply about climate action, youth, and community impact

Bonus (But Not Required)
  • Experience writing grant proposals or other persuasive content
  • Background in fundraising, marketing, communications, or administration
  • Knowledge of the nonprofit, education, or environmental sectors
