Job summary

A regional school authority in Swift Current is seeking a full-time Functionally Integrated Program Facilitator to support students with unique needs. The role involves providing personal care, promoting student independence, and collaborating with educators and support teams. Qualifications

  • Specialized training in supporting students with differing abilities is an asset.
  • Previous experience in program coordination or facilitation would be considered an asset.

Qualifications And Skills
  • Diploma/Degree as either a Social Worker, Youth Worker, or Youth Counselor from a recognized educational institution is preferred;
  • Specialized training in supporting students with differing abilities, including but not limited to Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and Transfer, Lift and Repositioning training, is an asset;
  • Previous experience in program coordination or facilitation would be considered an asset, in roles such as: group home management, program manager, or coordinator.
  • First Aid and CPR is an asset;
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Passion/love for working with and supporting intensive need youth/young adults;
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, family, in‑school staff, counsellors, administration and external partners;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to deal with a broad range of students, staff and members of the general public;
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments and positions; extended time spent standing, kneeling or supporting students at ground level may be required;
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position:
    • Lift and apply force equivalent to 30 lbs. frequently;
    • Lift and apply force equivalent to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must hold a valid Saskatchewan driver's license with clean drivers abstract.
Job Duties
  • Providing personal care to students while maintaining their dignity and promoting their independence;
  • Assisting and coaching students to develop the skills and abilities they need to succeed in their daily lives and to help prepare students for life after high school;
  • Promoting student engagement in learning and providing academic support as supported by teachers, including small group/one‑on‑one reinforcement activities and assisting students with assignments;
  • Supporting up‑to‑date and complete student programming records by documenting progress on targeted goals and participating in student‑parent‑teacher conferences when requested by school administration;
  • Promoting, facilitating and modelling positive behaviour interventions and supports to encourage, support and reinforce positive student behaviour and social interactions;
  • Working in collaboration with the student’s support team to ensure learning occurs in the least restrictive environment and to facilitate and encourage peer group interaction and participation in learning and other school activities;
  • Coordinating and facilitating interactions between students and their support network, including external partners, educational assistants, and classroom teachers;
  • Performing other duties as may be required or assigned by the principal or classroom teacher;
  • Supporting casual employees with their duties;
  • Promote the vision, mission, values and goals of the School and Chinook School Division.
