Job Title: Forklift Operator - Nights

Job Description

Join our dynamic team in Calgary as a Forklift Operator, where you'll play a crucial role in our L Freight Cross Dock operations. This position involves operating a Sit Down Counter Balance forklift to handle loading and unloading tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Sit Down Counter Balance forklift for unloading and loading trailers with freight, approximately 60% of the day.
• Assist with moving pallets and perform hand bombing, handling products up to 50lbs, approximately 40% of the day, depending on shipment volume.
• Handle bills of lading and other paperwork throughout the shift.
• Assist team members with unloading paperwork and contribute to maintaining a clean and safe dock environment.
• Participate in cleaning duties each shift to ensure the dock is free of debris.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience operating a Sit Down Counter Balance forklift.
• Experience in loading and unloading trailers using a forklift.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs throughout the shift.
• Adaptability to fast-paced environments and ability to switch tasks easily.
• Valid forklift ticket, which can be obtained through company assistance if needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with safety vest use (own vest recommended).
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Familiarity with RF Scanners and Waybill/Bill of Lading processes.

Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced, handling courier shipments for retail stores. You'll be part of a team of 20-25 people on the floor, working in a small space with 68 bay doors and 16 forklifts. The shift runs from Monday to Friday, 11:30 pm onwards. Dress warmly for the cold dock environment, and be ready to adapt to various tasks throughout your shift.
