We have refreshed our name to Financial Planners under the Scotia Financial Planning team within our Global Asset Management Division.

As a Financial Planner you will focus on developing and deepening client relationships by providing high-quality advice and service within the mass affluent market. You leverage external networks and centres of influence to grow a practice. Your clients are your greatest asset and your priority is to provide investment and financial planning advice to help meet their unique goals. You enjoy the flexibility of meeting clients outside the office on a schedule that suits you and them. You recognize the value of working within a collective Scotiabank framework that benefits clients and your practice overall.

Responsibilities
  • Business Development: Execute business development plans for prospects and existing clients within the mass affluent market. Identify additional opportunities and facilitate implementation of investment solutions or referrals to appropriate partners.
  • Client-Centric: Provide client-centric investment solutions through a financial planning framework aligning with Global Sales Principles. Conduct outbound communications and proactive calls to prospects to remain top-of-mind for future opportunities. Conduct complimentary needs analysis across financial statements.
  • Community Involvement: Participate actively in local professional and community events and associations to expand your network. Deliver community information sessions and financial seminars to grow prospects. Build and maintain a market profile in the assigned area. Network with investment specialists while managing a small budget for independent marketing activities.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in financial planning and investment sales.
  • Mutual fund certification and current MFDA licensing requirements (Investments Funds in Canada or Canadian Securities Course).
  • Successful completion of a Personal Financial Planning (PFP) designation and/or a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
  • Proven networking and client acquisition skills; experience building and maintaining Centres of Influence (COIs).
  • Goal oriented and entrepreneurial; able to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a larger team.
  • Extensive knowledge of competitive offerings, market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory environment.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle to meet clients and prospects within the designated district.

Other Information

Compensation: base plus variable pay. This is a mobile role that will require frequent travel.
