Company Overview
About the Role

The Financial Analyst, FP&A will work closely with our Finance Director and collaborate with the CEO in our Montreal Head Office. In this role you will support the team by preparing and maintaining financial reports, assisting with budgeting and forecasting cycles, and completing analyses that help inform business decisions. This full‑time contractual position lasts 13 months.

Who you are

The ideal candidate will be inherently self‑motivated, a self‑starter with a passion for analyzing data, developing, and maintaining financial models, including sensitivity analysis, delivering on market research and deal execution and can turn a large amount of data into meaningful and actionable information. The role will also involve both financial and management accounting. You will play a pivotal role in the forecasting process and month‑end close, providing financial insights for strategic decision‑making.

Responsibilities
  • Perform various analysis of financial and operational performance
  • Support financial reporting for management decision‑making
  • Identify opportunities for report automation and continuous process improvements
  • Provide timely forward‑looking information and analysis for decision‑making purposes
  • Maintain the company’s financial modelling and assist in building new models and reports as the company grows
  • Collaborate with the broader Finance team on various areas with focus on financial reporting, trend analysis, working capital and WACC modelling and analysis
  • Support the accounting & reporting teams in the preparation and analysis of financial reporting packages, MD&A and the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the management reporting tools and dashboards
  • Support the Treasury team in analyzing and modelling financial reporting and cash management reports and presentations and Confidential Information Memorandum for lenders
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations to the board of directors, senior management and various internal and external stakeholders
  • Ad‑hoc in‑depth financial and data analysis
Analytics
  • Utilize advanced analytics to extract meaningful insights from financial and non‑financial data
  • Collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive dashboards and reports to build the holistic view and support efficient decision‑making
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to provide thorough analysis, scenario modelling and actionable insights
  • Evaluate market trends, commodity prices and relevant industry data to inform strategic decision‑making
  • Support the CFO and Executive team members with ad‑hoc analytics and special projects as required
  • Partner effectively across all business functions including Risk Management, Operations, IT, Finance, and Commercial to ensure ongoing alignment of priorities
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Advanced Excel proficiency (PivotTables, Macros, etc.) and PowerPoint knowledge required
  • Expertise with research databases, PowerBI, and CapitalIQ is considered an asset
  • Financial modelling, market research, accounting, and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to share insight and partner across departments
  • Experience in commodities trading, supply chain management, logistics is an asset
  • Demonstrable experience in data and/or business analysis with an aptitude for creating meaningful insight
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a rapidly changing business environment
  • Strong initiative to work independently
  • Language: English fluency required due to regular interaction with stakeholders across North America and international markets
