Responsibilities
  • The Field Service Technician II is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment at customer sites. They ensure timely and efficient service delivery, troubleshoot technical issues, perform preventive maintenance, and provide customer training and support as needed.
  • Travel primarily within Canada to cover Alberta and other regions as required; remote work from Calgary/Edmonton with Regional Field Service Manager oversight.
  • Provide technical service including installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic, and refrigeration instruments.
  • Ensure operational compliance and communication by documenting service activities per Health Canada, FDA, and Leica policies, and maintain timely communication with internal teams and external customers to meet expectations.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and continuous development by expanding product and application knowledge, representing the company with integrity, and maintaining high customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Associate degree, college diploma, or undergraduate degree in Electronics, Mechanical, or Robotics Engineering.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in repairing and maintaining electronic, electro-mechanical, or refrigeration instruments.
  • Proven technical aptitude and problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering high-quality service in field environments.
Travel, Driver Requirements & Physical/Environment
  • This position requires up to 80% flying and/or driving travel, including overnight stays. Travel will primarily be domestic but may occasionally be international.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to regularly lift, move, slide, raise and/or place up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand, walk (prolonged), and sit; squat and kneel, ascend and descend stairs; reach with hands and arms.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in regulated laboratory environments, medical device servicing, or hospital-based technical support.
  • Experience as a Biomedical Engineer is considered an asset due to overlap in technical expertise and customer-facing service delivery.

Compensation & Legal

The hourly range for this role is CAD 30.00 – CAD 40.00 per hour. This range may be modified in the future. The role is eligible for bonus/incentive pay. A comprehensive benefits package includes paid time off and health benefits.
