Overview

Raise is currently hiring a Field Operator – Gas Management on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, the third largest producer of Canadian oil and natural gas and the second largest refiner and upgrader with extensive midstream and downstream infrastructure.

Note

The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.

Description

The Field Operator – Gas Management in this role will join our client's Western Canada Operations to fill the Gas Management Role with the New Drill Team. Reporting to the Supervisor, this position is accountable for day‑to‑day support of gas management for Alberta and Saskatchewan and supporting the New Drill team and ensures it is run in a safe, efficient manner while maintaining the necessary production requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Fuel Flare Vent (FFV) sustainment, communication, training, supporting Operations on data entry into intricate solutions, Auditing of FFV entries, attend FFV monthly meetings.
  • Troubleshooting of gas systems to debottleneck projects, participate in pipeline walk downs (infield confirmation of surface equipment, scope line pack issues, confirm gas system flow and metering, gas mapping, gas sales line balancing, gas sampling, data gathering, engage in pipeline integrity reviews, gas line pigging and procedures).
  • Assist Operations to operate in a safe and effective manner, while working collaboratively as part of the operating team.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all area‑specific equipment to optimize performance to meet production targets as per guidelines.
  • Perform condition monitoring including sampling and testing per area responsibilities. Complete area operations records. (e.g. volume balances, log sheets, work permits and required reports)
  • Support operations performed maintenance activities aligned to the site’s operating philosophy. Support on‑site maintenance contractors by communicating requirements, policies and procedures, while leading by example.
  • Provide assistance, coaching, on‑the‑job training and assessments to new employees as required.
  • Participate in the development and review of Safe Operating Procedures. Follow safe operating and chemical handling procedures and ensure environmental impact is minimized.
  • Participate in the site Health and Safety Program. Report all near misses and incidents. Participate in incident investigations, as required.
Qualifications
  • 1 – 5 yrs experience in operation of oil processing equipment and all associated processes and systems.
  • 1 – 5 yrs experience in equipment isolation in preparation for maintenance.
  • 1 – 5 yrs experience in safe work permitting and hazard analysis.
  • 1 – 2 yrs experience in control room setting.
  • Experience in oil and gas industry, pulp and paper, or plant process experience.
  • Proficiency with computerized operating systems such as PLC, DCS, or SCADA.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, SAP, Salesforce and PVR (Production volume reporting).
  • Basic understanding of safety and regulatory standards and procedures.
  • Valid, clean Class 5 Driver’s license is required. For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A Driver’s abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the Pre‑employment Screening for the final candidate.
  • Education and Skills
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate is an asset.
    • The following would be an asset for the candidate in this role
      • Gas Process Operations (GPO) / Production Field Operations (PFO) levels A‑D / I‑IV.
      • Oil & Gas Process Operations (OGPO) levels 100‑400.
      • Petroleum Technologist diploma or technical diploma from a recognized technical college.
      • Journeyman trades certification is an asset.
Additional Information
  • Work schedule up to 40 hrs a week minimum, 5 & 2 while training then move to 8 & 6 schedule.
  • Contractors in this role will be required to provide their own vehicle and will be provided with a Truck Allowance.
  • As this is a safety Sensitive Role Pre‑access substance testing will be required.
