Job Description
As the Recreation Manager, you will lead the Adventure Center, Health Club, Pool, Movement Studio, Boathouse, Kids Camp activities, Resort and Holiday activities, and the recreation group’s activities. You will represent the exceptional service and recreation offerings that characterize Jasper Park Lodge.
You will report to the Director of Wellbeing and perform the following responsibilities:
- Consistently offer professional, friendly, and engaging service
- Direct and lead the day‑to‑day recreation operations ensuring all standards are followed
- Ensure health & safety regulations are adhered to in all recreation areas
- Maintain cleanliness of the pool, boathouse, and health club thermal area through daily inspections
- Develop and implement programs to enhance departmental revenue
- Design entertainment programs for children and adults during all official holidays
- Provide a high level of guest service through follow‑up on guest issues, comments, and feedback platforms
- Monitor and control departmental payroll and expenses
- Sustainable scheduling of all recreation colleagues
- Administer and implement staff training for all operation aspects
- Manage recreation purchasing and inventory, and maintain product consumption records
- Manage cash float and point‑of‑sale system
- Ensure correct chemical balance of the pool and accurate water test readings per provincial regulations
- Attend scheduled hotel meetings
- Design and implement kids programming, guided tours, and group activities
- Recruit, develop, and conduct performance management for the department
- Design and manage all controls for rentals, classes, and programs
- Create and execute a yearly marketing plan
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of resort activity management experience
- Professional Canadian Guiding accreditation
- Previous retail management and inventory experience
- Experience working with children
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Proven record in program design or facilitation
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel)
- Degree in recreation or related field (preferred)
- Knowledge of chemical and pool operations (asset)
- Experience with point‑of‑sale and booking systems (preferred)
- Strong interest in health, well‑being and physical activity
- Committed to ongoing development and training of colleagues
- Motivated and able to build and support strong work teams
Additional Information
Visa requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel cannot assist with Canadian work authorization.
