Job summary

A large automotive manufacturer is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer based in Windsor, Canada. This role involves managing facility electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with codes and standards, and leading improvement projects. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, have over 5 years of relevant experience, and be skilled in AutoCAD and project management. The position is 100% onsite and requires driving.

Qualifications

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of building electrical and mechanical systems including building power distribution, controls, HVAC, cooling and compressed air systems.
  • Investigate and resolve deficiencies to facility building and equipment.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable codes, regulations and standards.
  • Work with internal customers to provide solutions to equipment and building upgrades.
  • Develop scope of work for facility construction projects, equipment installation projects and facility maintenance contracts. Support the bid process.
  • Manage facility projects to meet timing, specifications and cost objectives.
  • Oversee outside contractor services supporting building and equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Write purchase requisitions for material and services. Track requisition, Purchase Orders and Invoicing.
  • Develop and promote efficiency improvements in building systems to reduce utility usage and maintenance costs.
  • Ensure owner's interests are protected with respect to health and safety, cost, schedule, liability and function on work assignments
  • Primary area of responsibility is within company's facilities located in Windsor.
  • Direct/supervise skilled trades on assignments as required
  • Willingness to accept a variety of assignments including those that fall outside of electrical engineering
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years engineering experience with facility electrical systems such as power distribution, controls, safety controls and lighting.
  • Detailed knowledge of facility electrical and mechanical systems such as electrical power distribution systems, controls, HVAC, utilities, air compressors, cooling towers and bridge cranes.
  • Detailed knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, TSSA standards, OHSA, CSA and local by‑laws.
  • Ability to interpret and develop electrical and mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience in the use of AutoCAD, Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
