POSITION TYPE TERM, PART-TIME, 20 HOURS/WEEK TO START, POTENTIAL TO INCREASE HOURS
The Event Support will work with the Event Coordinator and various internal departments to ensure welcoming, engaging, inclusive, and well-executed events. If you are eager to build genuine connections and to work with a diverse team of fun and friendly individuals, we encourage you to apply.
The Event Support will:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with visitors, community organizations, vendors, suppliers, contractors, and event proprietors.
- Occasionally serve as the on-site contact for events, overseeing setup and teardown, resolving issues as they arise, and being on-call for shifts as required.
- Support the Event Coordinator with a wide range of tasks related to event execution, including some administrative tasks, equipment setup, audio‑visual system checks, and post‑event cleanup.
- Support the Event Coordinator with management and maintenance of event equipment and storage unit, plus all inventory.
- Provide feedback to the Event Coordinator, highlighting issues and suggesting improvements.
- Work closely with internal operations departments, ensuring all event needs are met.
- Act as the on-site contact for The Forks seasonal programming, ensuring flawless execution of events. This could include acting as host for events, coordinating equipment, space setup and teardown, and serving as liaison between partners and internal departments.
- Facilitate walk‑throughs of The Forks event spaces with potential clients.
The Event Support is someone who:
- Has strong customer service skills, with a focus on hospitality, making guests and organizers feel well cared for.
- Is highly organized and attentive to detail, able to juggle multiple tasks or events at once.
- Is comfortable in fast‑paced and changing environments, and adaptable when plans shift.
- Communicates clearly and with a warm tone, both verbally and in writing.
- Is comfortable working in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Is a friendly, helpful, and supportive team member who enjoys working collaboratively.
- Is physically capable of lifting and moving equipment as part of event support.
- Is available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as needed. Scheduling flexibility is essential for this role, as timing of events and client needs vary.
- Is able to work in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, rain, wind, and cold temperatures.
- Experience supporting events, particularly in setup, teardown, and on‑site coordination is an asset.
