Position Overview
Location

This position is based in our Burnaby district office. Travel to sites across BC or other locations is required. #LI-RP1

Responsibilities
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates for marine construction projects.
  • Develop quantity take-offs, cost breakdowns, and pricing for labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, and field personnel to ensure constructability and accuracy of estimates.
  • Participate in bid reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering exercises.
  • Maintain and update historical cost data and unit pricing databases.
  • Identify and evaluate potential project risks and opportunities.
  • Support post-bid project transitions and handoffs to operations teams.
  • Stay current with industry trends, construction methods, and market conditions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil or marine construction (e.g., ports, harbors, coastal structures).
  • Strong knowledge of marine construction methods, equipment, and materials.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Hard Dollar, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel and support projects across North America.

  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.

Compensation: $100,000 - 130,000

  • Actual total compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, assigned project, and/or location, and may be above or below this range.
  • Additional project-based premiums may be applied depending on assignment.
