Estimator, Commercial Painting

Harbinger Network is proud to partner with a company that provides professional, efficient, and quality painting and special coatings services across commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.

Role overview

The Estimator will manage the full estimating cycle for ICI painting and specialty coatings projects up to approximately $5M, across lump sum, design-build, and construction management formats. The focus is on detailed takeoffs, pricing, and tenders that align with established company methods and numbers.

Key responsibilities
  • Complete detailed quantity takeoffs, pricing, budgets, and tender submissions for ICI painting and coatings projects.
  • Read and interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings, including complex structural elements (beams, trusses, open web steel joists, etc.).
  • Assess specs, identify errors or mismatches, and raise informed questions to clarify scope.
  • Prepare quotes independently with regular review from the senior estimator and ownership.
  • Assist with awarded project setup (statements of values, field budgets) before handoff to operations.
  • Use PlanSwift for takeoffs and Procore for GC bid portals.
Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of Estimating experience
  • Strong structural and drawing interpretation skills; engineering or architectural background preferred.
  • Painting estimating experience is an asset but not required; strong adjacent fits include drywall, mechanical, roofing, or formwork estimating.
  • Comfortable in a small, steady, team-oriented business with strong English communication skills.
  • High aptitude and willingness to learn company-specific processes and standards.
