Job description

A large soft rock mining company located in Goderich, Ontario is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager to join their team. This is a fully onsite position, with no potential for Fly-In Fly-Out, but the client is willing to support relocation.

The Role

The selected candidate will oversee leading and implementing the EHS program, promoting safety culture and enhancing overall onsite safety. This person will be leading a team of ten EHS professionals, and collaborate with site personal, subcontractors, regulatory agencies and members of the corporate team. The candidate will be an active member of Joint Health and Safety Committee in order to assist in monitoring and advancing the EHS program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overall site risk management, change management and contractor management.
  • Develop and implement new EHS policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with federal, provincial and municipal regulations.
  • Coaching and mentoring the EHS team, leading to continuous improvement and an enhanced safety culture by identifying new coaching and training programs.
  • Conduct Industrial Hygiene surveys and programs.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in EHS, with the majority from a mining environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety / industrial Hygiene or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills,
  • Advanced project management skills, with the ability to work on competing priorities simultaneously.
