Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) is seeking an early career Civil/Structural CAD Designer in our Engineering Services During Construction (ESDC) Production group. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of civil, geotechnical, and structural CAD / Modeling tasks using Autodesk or Bentley related software. They will also lead coordination efforts with key construction and client staff to resolve any question or concerns during the As-Built process and update the contract drawings to meet the As-built and Record drawing requirements for our projects.

Our ESDC Production group provides value to the success of our clients’ projects by managing post design change resolution which is critical to quality project design, cost control, and construction excellence. We assist Kiewit infrastructure districts in the process of managing released for construction drawing changes through construction operation excellence. The ESDC Production department helps Kiewit build projects by providing integrated As-Built and Record drawing oversight and management of changes that occur through the construction period.

Responsibilities

  • Work with our engineering teams and Clients to provide latest As-Built design drawings to construction team
  • Virtual plan set support, with emphasis on training personnel on construction team
  • Coordinate with Document Control specialists to manage accurate redline/markup changes on virtual plan set
  • Review of client As-Built/Record Drawing requirements and develop As-Built/Record Drawing plan
  • Work with construction team and assisting them in documentation of redline/markup changes made in the field
  • Coordinate effective meetings with construction/client teams and track down answers
  • Participate in change documentation reviews to evaluate and make recommendations
  • Work with construction team to provide the Client with As-Built/Record Drawing submittals

Qualifications

  • Completion of vocational training program in Computer Aided Design
  • 2-4 years’ experience in basic civil/structural/geotechnical CAD / Modeling of design documents
  • Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Additional proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, MicroStation, or Revit is a plus
  • Infrastructure project design or construction experience is a plus
  • General knowledge of engineering principles for civil / structural work
  • Read and understand civil / structural construction documents
  • Strong and Effective oral and written communication skills contributing to team-based collaboration environment
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Travel expectation for this role is 10-15%
