Position Overview

Power Your Future with Qualus in our T&D Canada business as a Telecom Engineer. Reporting to the Telecom Engineering Manager, this position will be a hybrid role in our Vancouver BC office. You will play a key role in designing advanced telecommunication systems for transmission and distribution projects in the electric utility industry—from concept through construction. Responsibilities
  • Prepare engineering design drawings and documentation as part of multi-disciplinary project teams under the guidance of a senior telecom engineer.
  • Collaborate with clients to ensure designs meet project scope and client needs while delivering quality work on schedule and within budget.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and ensure seamless discipline interface across the project.
  • Take ownership of your designs as the Professional of Record, adhering to professional standards within your field of practice.
  • Manage multiple projects with competing priorities effectively.
  • Share knowledge and workload with a geographically distributed team.
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams, external contractors, and client representatives to foster trust and collaboration.
  • Travel within Canada for field investigations and reviews as required.
  • Be a courageous safety leader, ensuring safety is never compromised in your designs or actions on the job.
Qualifications
  • Electrical Engineering degree from a recognized university
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer or eligible to become one in British Columbia within 6 months.
  • 4+ years of telecom and/or industrial networking experience, preferably in a utility or industrial setting.
  • Working knowledge of multiple technologies listed above.
  • Valid Class 4 Canadian driver’s license.
  • Eligible to permanently live and work in Canada.
  • Ability to work from the office a minimum of three days per week.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Consulting industry experience and familiarity with engineering documentation (drawings, specifications, bills of materials, estimates).
  • Experience with radio/microwave modelling and Industry Canada license applications.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity standards and assessments.
  • Thorough understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code.
