Job description

Are you an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual looking for a new opportunity with a fantastic company? On behalf of our client, we are looking for candidates for an exciting Director/Senior Aquatics Scientist role with our client in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

The Director/Senior Aquatics Scientist will manage the planning and execution of freshwater and/or marine surveys, environmental permitting and monitoring projects and communication with clients and regulatory bodies. Additionally, they will analyze, interpret and incorporate field data into technical reports, permitting applications and tracking, environmental assessment and other associated documents, as well as lead field programs and support environmental fieldwork for baseline surveys and assessments. They will edit and review documents for accuracy and scientific integrity before they are sent to clients and regulators and provide constructive feedback on methodology and improve the quality of SOPs and scientific methods used by the team.

The successful candidate will have a university degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field along with at least 15 years of relevant experience. Previous experience with leading and overseeing freshwater and marine baseline studies and managing projects is required. Experience leading field surveys and aquatic baseline assessments are also required, as is familiarity with Fisheries Acts. Experience with designing and overseeing fish habitat offsetting and monitoring programs is required. Strong communication and the ability to write detailed technical reports are a must for this position. Travel will be required for this role to visit survey locations.
