Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Director of Finance - Canada located in Mississauga, ON. The Director of Finance – Canada will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial operations within the Canadian business unit of our foodservice packaging manufacturing company. This role will provide strategic financial guidance, ensure strong financial controls, and support decision-making to drive profitable growth. The Director of Finance will manage financial planning, reporting, and compliance while ensuring alignment with both corporate objectives and operational realities in manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Leadership & Strategy: Partner with senior leadership to shape financial strategies that support business growth, operational efficiency, and cost competitiveness. Provide insights and recommendations on performance improvement, investment opportunities, and risk management.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators, providing timely and actionable insights to management. Develop financial models to support strategic initiatives, pricing, and sourcing decisions.
  • Manufacturing Finance & Costing: Oversee manufacturing process costing, product cost analysis, and margin improvement initiatives. Implement and maintain robust standard costing systems and variance analysis reporting. Partner with operations to drive efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
  • Accounting, Audit & Compliance: Ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all financial reporting in accordance with Canadian GAAP and corporate policies. Lead annual audit processes and manage external auditor relationships. Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with regulatory and tax requirements.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and develop a high-performing finance team. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (designation required).
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance experience with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in manufacturing process and item costing.
  • Proven expertise in financial planning & analysis (FP&A), budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision support.
  • Solid knowledge of audit practices, compliance, and internal controls.
  • Experience in food packaging, paperboard, or consumer goods manufacturing considered a strong asset.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and change management skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel / financial modeling skills.
