Director, Foodservice - Canada

Hello potential future Oatly employee. It’s us, the original oatmilk company that started in Sweden back 25 or so years ago and has since expanded to the U.S. where we’ve continued growing at a rate that requires more brilliant minds to join us to keep the momentum going and the oatmilk flowing.

Sustainability, health, and transparency are the core values that guide everything we do. We exist to help people live a healthier life without recklessly taxing the planet’s resources in the process, and to change the food system for the better. We drive that change through the power of oats and through a significant reduction in cow’s milk consumption. If any of this resonates with you, then maybe you’d like to work for Oatly, too. Now onto the formal stuff.

We are looking for a Director, Foodservice (Canada) to join our team. This role will be responsible for driving distribution and sales with enthusiasm and passion for Oatly’s purpose, mission, and values. Reporting to the VP Commercial Canada, the position exists to drive sales, build market share, and increase brand awareness while establishing long-term relationships with distributors, brokers, and key customers within the foodservice channel.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with the VP Commercial Canada, their peers, and teammates to build out, implement, and drive our foodservice distribution sales strategy across Canada
  • Establish and execute the foodservice strategy - Be a Hands-on Leader
  • Build strong and credible relationships with major foodservice operators, headquarters accounts, distributors, and brokers
  • Direct annual planning for all businesses related to general broad-line foodservice and specialty coffee distribution
  • Evaluate short and long-term goals to ensure sales resources are utilized to deliver against the overall company strategy
  • Directly manage regional customers and coordinate the management of all other accounts
  • Own budgeting and forecasting of sales for the assigned region, and participate in the development of strategic direction and goals for the team
  • Enhance and foster a culture of support, positivity, and accountability within the team
Qualifications
  • 7+ years in the greater foodservice channel with an expert understanding of the national foodservice landscape, including distributors, customers, and distributors
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience
  • 50%+ travel as needed/required
  • Role can exist anywhere within the Toronto and Montreal metro areas
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A history of proven organizational growth
  • Experience in building and leading a foodservice business
  • Ability to communicate strategy, tactics, and results to senior leadership
  • Passion for relationship building across teams as well as external broker partners, buyers, and distributors
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively, while thriving in a remote environment
  • Problem-solving skills and a desire to bring creative solutions to business opportunities
  • Bilingual English/French is an asset
Team and Culture
  • You feel connected to our mission of encouraging health, sustainability, and transparency
  • You are a self-starter who doesn’t need direct supervision to motivate you for success – we value accountability and ownership
  • You are ready to make your mark in a smaller, growing brand, delivering results and building an outstanding company
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit and are comfortable with ambiguity, energized by building something lasting
  • You enjoy sharing your quirkiness and talents with coworkers
Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. Our base salary estimate is 150,000 CAD, with possible bonus, commission, or equity as applicable. Compensation may be influenced by skill set, level of experience, and location.

We offer flexible vacation, strong benefits (pet insurance included), paid volunteer days, and other perks typical of a growing brand. We are nimble and agile in how we work and are grounded in a long company history dating back to the last century.
