OVERVIEW

Reporting to VP Solution Design and Development the Director Design and Implementation is a senior leader within the IT Solution Design department responsible for driving the successful design delivery and implementation of technology solutions that support business objectives for Extended Producer Responsibility. This role oversees a team of information analysts QA testers and implementation specialists and works closely with cross‑functional teams ensuring solutions are innovative, scalable and aligned with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements for Producer Responsibility Organizations (PRO).

As a key partner to both business and technology leadership the Director will play a pivotal role in shaping solution roadmaps, guiding design practices and ensuring high‑quality execution from concept to implementation.

This is a salary paid position requiring residency in Canada.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Strategy
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for solution design and implementation initiatives across the organization related to EPR business frameworks.
  • Partner with senior business and IT leaders to align technology solutions with business strategy and priorities.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to measure solution quality, implementation success and business value delivery.
  • Guide and support direct reports in the completion of their critical duties.
Solution Design
  • Support the development of EPR solutions ensuring scalability, integration and alignment with enterprise architecture and regulatory frameworks.
  • Champion best practices in design documentation and knowledge transfer.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, security and organizational standards.
Implementation & Delivery
  • Oversee the planning, execution and delivery of EPR business frameworks from proof of concept through to enterprise‑wide deployment.
  • Direct cross‑functional implementation teams ensuring timely and high‑quality delivery.
  • Manage risks, dependencies and issue resolution to enable smooth transitions into production.
Team Development & Collaboration
  • Build, mentor and manage a high‑performing team of analysts, testers and implementation specialists.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with stakeholders across IT operations and business units to ensure solutions meet user and organizational needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field; Masters degree preferred.
  • A combination of education, ongoing professional certification and experiences may be considered.
Experience
  • 10 years in solution design, systems implementation or related IT leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of leading large‑scale solution design and technology implementation projects.
  • Experience in both strategic planning and hands‑on solution delivery.
Knowledge / Competencies / Skills
  • Advanced understanding of enterprise IT systems, cloud platforms, system integration and application development lifecycles.
  • Highly knowledgeable working within SAP and other ERP software and SaaS applications such as Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Familiarity with provincial recycling legislation and regulations.
  • Familiarity with architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman) and agile delivery methodologies.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Skilled at influencing across organizational boundaries and driving consensus.
  • Ability to inspire and develop high‑performing technical teams.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • All CM employees work 40 hours per week remotely from a home office environment.
