Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes in Pickering, ON is seeking a Dietary Aide to support meal service, preparation and clean-up within the Home. The role reports to the Food Service Manager and requires a focus on safety, accuracy, and compassionate resident care.

Responsibilities include assisting cooks, serving meals per diet orders, and maintaining kitchen and dining areas. Applicants must have a College Level Food Service Worker Program and a Safe Food Handling Certificate, with a negative VSC and TB

Qualifications

• Enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting Ontario LTC Homes Act requirements.
• Current Safe Food Handling Certificate.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Caring approach with passion for resident care.
• Ability to obtain a negative vulnerable sector check.
• TB screening as per policy.

Hourly Wage: $24.06

Position: Dietary Aide

Status: Casual Vacancy

Hours: 3pm-7pm

Reports to: Food Service Manager

The Dietary Aide provides support to the setup, preparation, serving and cleaning associated with all meal services in the Home.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
• Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player

Additional Requirements include

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.

• TB screening documentation as required under the Southbridge Care Homes' Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Policy
