Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes in London, Ontario is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide to support setup, preparation, serving and cleanup for all meals in the Home.

You will report to the Food Service Manager and work evenings, with emphasis on safe food handling, accurate portioning, and maintaining kitchen and dining areas. Required: college level Food Service Worker program, Safe Food Handling certificate, and strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
• Current Safe Food Handling Certificate is required.
• Demonstrated caring attitude with a passion for serving others.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring food is handled safely with proper storage and labeling.
• Assist cooks with basic food preparation.
• Execute proper food service in line with guidelines and protocols.
• Serve meals according to Resident diet orders.
• Wash, clean, and maintain the kitchen and dining room.

Shift: Evenings - 4:00pm-7:30pm

Reports to: Food Service Manager

The Dietary Aide provides support to the setup, preparation, serving and cleaning associated with all meal services in the Home.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
• Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player

Additional Requirements include

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
• TB screening documentation as required under the Southbridge Care Homes' Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Policy
