Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes in Hanover, ON is seeking a Casual Dietary Aide to support meal service operations at The Village Seniors Community. The role involves assisting with food preparation, serving residents according to diet orders, and maintaining kitchen and dining room cleanliness.

The position reports to the Food Service Manager and requires completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program and a Safe Food Handling Certificate.

Qualifications

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program.
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate.
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Support setup, preparation, serving and cleaning for all meal services in the Home.
• Assist cooks in basic food preparation.
• Ensure food service complies with internal guidelines and protocols.
• Serve meals according to Resident diet orders.
• Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and dining room.

Reports to:

Food Service Manager

The Dietary Aide provides support to the setup, preparation, serving and cleaning associated with all meal services in the Home.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
• Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player

Additional Requirements include

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
• TB screening documentation as required under the Southbridge Care Homes’ Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Policy
