Job summary

Southbridge Cornwall LTC in Cornwall, ON is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide to support meal setup, preparation, serving and cleaning in the Home under the supervision of the Food Service Manager.

You will handle meals safely, assist cooks, and serve residents according to their diet orders while maintaining the kitchen and dining areas. A College Level Food Service Worker program and a current Safe Food Handling Certificate are required, with excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Enrollment or completion of College Level Food Service Worker Program as per Ontario LTCH Act
• Current Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Care for residents with compassion and respect
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Ability to work well in a team

Responsibilities

• Assist with setup, preparation, serving and cleaning of meals

Salary Range: Starting at $21.24 per hour

Position: Dietary Aide

Status: Part Time Vacancy, Mixed Shift, Days and Evenings

Reports to: Food Service Manager

The Dietary Aide provides support to the setup, preparation, serving and cleaning associated with all meal services in the Home.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
• Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player

Additional Requirements include

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.

• Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months of start date.
