Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a Dietary Aide to support meal setup, preparation, serving and cleaning in the Humber Valley LTC home. The role reports to the Food Service Manager.

The position requires compliance with safety, labeling and food handling standards in a long-term care setting. Responsibilities include assisting cooks, serving meals per diet orders, and maintaining a clean kitchen and dining room, while communicating effectively with residents and team members.

Qualifications

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
• Current Safe Food Handling Certificate is required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for resident interactions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure food is handled safely with proper storage and labeling.
• Assist cooks with basic food preparation.
• Execute proper food service according to guidelines and protocols.
• Serve meals according to Resident diet orders.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas.

Position: Dietary Aide

Status: 630am - 230pm and 1230pm - 830pm

Reports to:

Food Service Manager

The Dietary Aide provides support to the setup, preparation, serving and cleaning associated with all meal services in the Home.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
• Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Knowledge And Skills Required

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player

Additional Requirements Include

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
• TB screening documentation as required under the Southbridge Care Homes’ Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Policy
