Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes at West Park in St. Catharines, ON is seeking a Dietary Aide to support the setup, preparation, serving and cleaning of all meal services in the Home.

The role is casual with an hourly wage of CAD 22.20 per hour, with probation as per the CUPE Collective Agreement. You will report to the Food Service Manager and contribute to safe food handling and resident care.

Qualifications

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of College Level Food Service Worker Program.
• Current Safe Food Handling Certificate.
• Demonstrated caring approach and passion for serving others.

Responsibilities

• Assist with setup, preparation, serving and cleaning for all meals.
• Ensure food is handled, stored and labeled safely.
• Assist cooks with basic food preparation and meal service according to resident diets.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas.
• Adhere to internal and external guidelines and protocols.

Reports to: Food Service Manager

The Dietary Aide provides support to the setup, preparation, serving and cleaning associated with all meal services in the Home.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
• Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player

Additional Requirements include

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
• TB screening documentation as required under the Southbridge Care Homes’ Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Policy
