Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide at Sumac Lodge in Ontario. The 8:00am–12:00pm shift is available and you will report to the Food Service Manager.

You will assist cooks, handle safe food storage, and serve meals according to resident diet orders, while maintaining the kitchen and dining areas. A College Level Food Service Worker Program and Safe Food Handling Certificate are required.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled or have completed a College Level Food Service Worker Program as required by Ontario LTCH Act.
• Current Safe Food Handling Certificate is required.
• Demonstrates caring attitude and passion for serving residents.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure food handling follows safety, labeling, and storage guidelines.
• Assist cooks with basic food preparation and plating.
• Follow internal/external guidelines and protocols for service.
• Serve meals per resident diet orders.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas.

Reports to: Food Service Manager

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
• Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
• Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
• Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
• Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
• Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
• Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
• Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player

Additional Requirements include

• A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date.
• Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months of start date.
