Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes’ Main Street Terrace in Toronto is seeking a dedicated Dietary Aide to support meal preparation, service, and kitchen/dining room upkeep. The role reports to the Food Service Manager and contributes to a caring environment for residents.

The ideal candidate has a College Level Food Service Worker Program, a current Safe Food Handling Certificate, and a passion for delivering quality care, with strong communication and teamwork abilities in a long-term care setting.

Qualifications

  • Mandatory enrollment or completion of a College Level Food Service Worker Program, meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act
  • Possess a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • Have a caring heart with a passion for serving others
  • Passion for providing quality care to residents in a long-term care setting
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player
  • A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of hire date
  • Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring food is handled in a safe manner, including proper storage and labeling
  • Assisting cooks in basic food preparation
  • Executing proper food service in relation to internal and external guidelines and protocols
  • Serving meals according to Resident diet orders
  • Washing, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and dining room

Reporting to the Food Service Manager the Dietary Aide plays a pivotal role in enriching the lives of residents by providing nutritious and delicious meals, that are prepared and served with love. The environment is fast-paced and deadline-driven, requiring high attention to detail and strong time management skills. The role includes regular use of computer systems and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:
