Daycare Janitor

Couchiching First Nation is seeking a dependable and experienced Janitor to join our team. This is a part‑time position of 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 4:45pm-9:45pm. The Daycare Janitor will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall maintenance of the Daycare Building. Duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, garbage and recycling collection, and disinfecting frequently used areas. The Daycare Janitor will also maintain and restock washrooms, perform minor repairs, tend outdoor walkways and grounds, and ensure that cleaning equipment and supplies are properly maintained. The Daycare Janitor will help create a welcoming, safe, hygienic environment for employees, band members, and visitors while following health and safety protocols.

Job Qualifications and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous janitorial or cleaning/maintenance experience is an asset.
  • Prior experience working with Indigenous communities and/or organizations is preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong safety awareness and knowledge of health and safety practices.
  • Physically capable of performing moderate physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and using cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
