Under direction and supervision, is a member of the Athletics and Recreation custodial staff carrying out cleaning and service work in the Rec North. Rec North is open from early morning to late evening seven days a week. Custodial shifts include days and evening shifts on weekdays and weekends. Is required to observe safe working conditions and habits. Works from oral and written instructions, schedules, and specific requirements which will be of a daily and periodic nature as well as specific tasks assigned from time to time and always according to safe work procedures. Works in close proximity to patrons during facility open hours.
Athletics & Recreation (A&R) is a department within the VP Students portfolio, with a strong focus on creating an exceptional UBC student experience. The A&R Department has a team of approximately 100 employees, and is led by a strong cross-unit management team. It services over 20,000 students through recreational programming, 25 varsity teams, 17 competitive club teams, along with thousands of members of the UBC community.
Poor customer service will result in unsatisfactory job performance.
Supervision Received Receives specific instructions only on new or unusual problems. Is expected to develop appropriate work procedures within established work regime. Custodians work under the general supervision from the Head Custodian and from oral and written instructions and in accordance with standard procedures. Direction may be received from building staff to remedy specific conditions necessary for hygienic operation of the facility. May receive specific instructions on new or unusual problems from Head Custodian, Administrative Staff, Management, and student workers.
