The Opportunity

We are looking for a Cost Systems Accountant who will be accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and ongoing maintenance of costing systems that support multiple businesses within the Atlantic Group of Companies. This role ensures costing inputs, methodologies, and outputs are current, transparent, and aligned with operational performance.

Working in close partnership with Finance, Operations, IT, and Corporate Revenue Management, the role provides reliable cost data and insights that enable informed pricing and business decisions.

This role is focused on core costing practices and reports directly into Vice President, Finance.

What You\'ll Do

Costing System Governance & Maintenance

  • Own the structure, logic, and ongoing accuracy of costing systems across the Group.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze key costing inputs, including machine rates, speeds, setup times, waste factors, among other costs.
  • Analyze detailed operational performance data to develop insights that inform costing assumptions and cost KPIs.
  • Execute costing system updates on a defined cadence in accordance with established frameworks.
  • Coordinate with local business teams and IT to ensure all system updates are implemented accurately and consistently.
  • Maintain a complete record of all costing system changes, including machine additions or removals, rate changes, and process updates.
  • Develop and maintain documentation covering costing system logic, assumptions, tools, and update procedures.

Reporting & Cost Analysis

  • Design, analyze, and distribute recurring costing reports, including cost recovery, productivity, and benchmarking.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of monthly benchmarking and productivity reporting.
  • Collaborate with Business Unit Revenue Management on the design, validation, and refinement of cost-related inputs used in revenue management reporting.
  • Analyze cost variances, trends, and drivers and communicate insights to Finance and Operations stakeholders.

Consultation, Enablement & Cross-Functional Support

  • Act as a central coordinator for costing practices across the Group, promoting consistency and best practice sharing.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on costing systems, methodologies, and data inputs.
  • Provide insights using standard reporting tools (e.g., IPA-style pivots) and engage Finance teams to support interpretation.
  • Support Finance, Operations, and Revenue Management teams by investigating and resolving costing-related questions beyond local capability.
  • Coordinate costing reviews and investigations in partnership with Finance leadership to support operational and routing decisions.
  • Ensure business unit teams have a clear understanding of how costing systems function and how cost drivers impact performance.
  • Support internal and external audit activities related to costing processes, valuation, and system controls.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional designation is considered an asset.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in costing, financial analysis, operations finance, or manufacturing finance.
  • Demonstrated experience working with complex costing systems in a multi-site or multi-business environment.
  • Proven ability to analyze large, detailed operational datasets and translate findings into clear insights.
  • Experience collaborating with Operations, Finance, and IT teams on system-driven initiatives.
  • Exposure to audit processes and financial controls related to costing systems is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of cost structures, drivers, and operational economics.
  • Strong ability to analyze, synthesize, and simplify complex information.
  • Comfortable building, documenting, and improving systems and processes.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across functions and levels.
  • Clear, concise communicator capable of explaining complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to accuracy, documentation, and openness to challenge and improvement.
