Corporate / Commercial Legal Assistant (Intermediate) – Duncan Craig LLP, Edmonton

Duncan Craig is a mid-market, full-service law firm based in downtown Edmonton providing a full range of legal services to businesses, entrepreneurs, institutions, and individuals in Alberta. We have a full-time opportunity in our corporate / commercial department for a highly skilled and enthusiastic legal assistant. The right candidate will have at least 4 or more years of corporate / commercial legal assistant experience, be exceptionally organized, and be able to manage multiple priorities for a busy partner.

Responsibilities
  • Daily communication with clients and contacts.
  • Organize and prepare closing books, handling post-closing documents, receipt payments, and prepare reporting documents, or other legal documents as required.
  • Prepare accounts, posting time, and receiving payments.
  • Draft general correspondence, open and close files, perform conflict checks, and perform other general administrative tasks.
  • Manage lawyer calendars and appointments.
Qualifications
  • Organized and reliable.
  • Able to work independently and manage shifting timelines and priorities.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Able to collaborate with other team members.
  • Great communicator and client-centric.
  • 4 or more years of experience in a legal assistant role with a focus on corporate / commercial practice.
  • AppRes certification and / or CORES Level 1 certification is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in a legal-based program or equivalent work experience.
  • Full-time position (Flexible start times / 7-hour workday).
