Qualifications

  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 12 months.
  • Valid Canadian Driver's license (class 5 or 5N) and access to a reliable vehicle with insurance to travel within the community.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 35 lbs. (16 kg).

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal support activities with ADLs and / or iADLs to individuals with a broad range of non-complex care needs.
  • Assist in administering medications as directed by registered healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with members of the health care team and the caregiver / family.
  • Document client tasks / information.
  • Report any client safety concerns or evidence of client abuse as required by law.

Job description
Overview

Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) - Windsor - NS at CBI Home Health. The CCA provides support with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Independent Activities of Daily Living (iADLs) for individuals with a broad range of care needs in their homes and other community locations. The CCA collaborates with the health care team and the caregiver / family to help individuals attain an optimal level of independence and well-being.

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal support activities with ADLs and / or iADLs to individuals with a broad range of non-complex care needs in their homes and other community locations.
  • Assist in administering medications to patients as directed by registered healthcare professionals.
  • Assist with daily living activities, such as grooming, dressing, bathing, planning, and preparing meals.
  • Check and record patients’ vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates.
  • Help with patient mobility, prescribed exercises, and transfers.
  • Collaborate with members of the health care team and the caregiver / family.
  • Report any client safety concerns or evidence of client abuse or child abuse as required by law to a supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively with the client, family and / or caregiver, and coordinators.
  • Document client tasks / information.
  • Communicate the needs, changes and / or problems concerning clients, particularly changes which may alter the plan of care to a supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate and concise documentation in progress notes of clients and report any status changes.
What You Will Need To Be Successful
  • CCA certificate from Seniors and Long-Term Care Nova Scotia or equivalency determined by the Health Association of Nova Scotia (HANS)
  • Current Standard Level C CPR and First Aid Certificate
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 12 months
  • Valid Canadian Driver's license (class 5 or 5N) and access to a reliable vehicle with insurance to travel within the community
  • Food Handlers Certificate
  • WHMIS Certificate
  • Registration with the Nova Scotia Continuing Care Assistant Registry
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills; ability to communicate in French or other languages is an asset
  • Reliability and strong organization skills
  • Ability to safely lift up to 35 lbs. (16 kg)
