About Cognizant Consulting

Cognizant Consulting is more than Cognizant’s consulting practice—we’re a global community of 5,000+ experts dedicated to helping clients reimagine their business. Blending our deep industry and technology advisory capability, we create innovative business solutions for Fortune 500 clients. And now, we’re looking for our next colleague who’ll join us in shaping the future of business. Could it be you?

About the Role

As a Consulting Principal, you will make an impact by managing large programs for core insurance operations—underwriting, policy administration, billing, and claims—so our clients can modernize safely and at speed. You will be a valued member of the Technology Consulting Group and will work collaboratively with client executives, business and IT leaders, and cross-functional Cognizant delivery teams.

Responsibilities
  • Set and govern enterprise architecture strategy for P&C carriers, ensuring scalability, security, resilience, and compliance across platforms and programs.
  • Architect domain solutions across underwriting, policy lifecycle, billing, and claims—aligning technology capabilities to measurable business outcomes.
  • Lead data architecture and integration, designing models and patterns that ensure data quality, lineage, governance/MDM, and seamless interoperability across policy/claims/billing ecosystems.
  • Drive solution design and modernization of legacy cores using cloud-native patterns, API-first design, microservices, and event-driven architectures to improve agility and change velocity.
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops and translate complex concepts into executive-ready narratives; build actionable roadmaps for underwriting, policy, and claims transformation.
  • Champion innovation, applying AI/ML (including Agentic AI) and market insights to create practical solutions and accelerators for clients and internal teams.
  • Lead and mentor consulting teams, embedding best practices in enterprise and data architecture, and ensuring solution assurance across multi-team delivery.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in the insurance industry in either a consulting or industry practitioner role in Property and Casualty.
  • 5+ years of experience with a management consulting firm.
    • Fluency in French (nice to have).
    • A positive, results-oriented style, evidenced by listening, motivating, delegating, influencing, and monitoring the work being done to develop the next generations of leaders.
    • A deep sense of urgency, creativity, and decisiveness coupled with the ability and willingness to work hard under pressure.
    • An engaging social style complemented by the analytical pragmatism necessary to quickly dissect highly complex issues.
    • Ability to establish immediate credibility among peers, respected for intelligence and technical expertise.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3–4 days a week in a client office in Montreal, QC.
