Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated, organized, and reliable Law Clerk or Paralegal with expertise in real estate law, particularly commercial leasing, to provide essential support to our Legal team. This is a versatile role that combines legal and administrative tasks within a dynamic and supportive team.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and prepare letters of intention, offers to lease, commercial leases, renewals, assignments, amendments, offers to purchase as well as other leasing and real estate related agreements;
- Draft demand letters, notices of default, various correspondence, and ensure necessary follow-ups;
- Conduct corporate and land registry searches (Land Register, Corporations Canada, etc.);
- Update and maintain databases, tracking systems, and both physical and electronic files;
- Assist in preparing documents for various real estate transactions;
- Assist in managing deadlines, reminders, and follow-ups, using Outlook or other internal tools;
- Perform various administrative tasks, including document management, correspondence, mailings, and filing;
- Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth internal processes; and
- Perform any other related tasks to support the Legal team.
Profile Sought
- College diploma in Paralegal Studies or relevant legal training;
- Minimum 5–6 years of experience in real estate law or commercial leasing, in a corporate setting or at a law firm;
- Written and spoken competence in English required (French considered an asset);
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to synthesize information;
- Autonomy, proactivity, and reliability in managing priorities and deadlines;
- Professional demeanor, customer service mindset, team spirit, and adaptability;
- Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the corporation combined with the ability to respond to client needs in a professional and courteous manner;
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
- In-depth knowledge of legal principles and terminology in the field of real estate;
- Ability to analyze legal documents to verify their accuracy;
- Ability to prioritize and adjust priorities as needed; and
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
