Job description
Overview

At Headlands Research, we are dedicated to enhancing clinical trial delivery within our communities. As a leading network of advanced clinical trial sites, we leverage cutting-edge technology and exceptional support services to broaden outreach and participation. Founded in 2018, our rapidly growing company currently operates 20+ sites across the US and Canada, with plans for further expansion.

Position

Toronto Memory Program is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and metrics-driven Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Clinical Trial Recruitment team as a Clinical Trial Educator. In this role, you will help identify clinical trial opportunities for patients within our memory clinic, support physician collaboration, and educate patients and their loved ones about the value of research participation.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about clinical research, Alzheimer's disease, and aging, who thrives in both clinical and educational settings. You will work at the intersection of chart review, patient communication, and team-based strategy, contributing to our mission of increasing access to clinical trials—particularly for those historically underrepresented in research.

We are looking for someone who is both metrics-driven and empathetic, able to translate complex information into meaningful conversations, and motivated by improving outcomes for older adults through inclusive research. Your impact will be measured not only by numbers but by the lives you help reach and engage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Chart Review & Trial Matching — Conduct detailed reviews of patient medical histories to assess eligibility for ongoing and upcoming clinical trials; apply understanding of trial protocols, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and disease progression to accurately match patients to appropriate studies; maintain up-to-date knowledge of available trials and their recruitment goals; administer standardized cognitive assessments as needed to help determine trial eligibility.
  • Clinical Team Collaboration — Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other clinical staff within our memory clinic to identify and refer eligible patients; build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support a culture of research awareness; suggest and implement improvements to recruitment workflows and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Patient & Family Education — Educate patients and their loved ones about clinical research opportunities in a clear, compassionate, and respectful manner; present the potential benefits and considerations of participation to help patients make informed decisions; operate with a metrics-driven mindset, aiming to improve recruitment numbers while maintaining a patient-first approach.
  • Subject Matter Expertise — Demonstrate a solid understanding of Alzheimer’s disease, related cognitive disorders, and the clinical research process; serve as a trusted resource on clinical trial procedures, timelines, and patient expectations.
  • Team-Based Recruitment Efforts — Collaborate with the recruitment team to meet shared enrollment goals; contribute to discussions on strategy, performance tracking, and process optimization; share insights and feedback to support continuous improvement in inclusive research recruitment.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Strong interest in Alzheimer’s disease, aging, and clinical research.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and engage both patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Experience in clinical settings, education, or health promotion is an asset.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment where recruitment needs and projects may shift over time.
  • Metrics-driven mindset with the ability to balance compassion with performance goals.
  • Must be onsite full-time, with occasional travel within the Greater Toronto Area for outreach activities as needed.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
