A Day in the Life
The Vascular Clinical Specialist role will provide detailed technical support for vascular products and procedures to a wide range of clinical base including physicians, nurses and technicians. This individual will support sales representatives with coverage for critical cases, primarily focused on cases with physicians that require technical support on the safe and effective use of our products.
Responsibilities
- Conducts on‑site education and / or consulting.
- Supports field personnel in providing the best possible outcomes and service for Medtronic customers.
- Partners with sales colleagues to develop and execute plans of sales for within one or more business unit(s).
- Participates in conventions, forums, and meetings to increase product awareness.
- Works closely with Clinical Lead, Clinical Management and Regional Sales team to provide customer case and sales support.
- Identifies and facilitates execution on growth opportunities with Sales and Clinical Support Team.
- Serves as a technical resource to support sales of a specific medical product or solution.
Additional Job Responsibilities
- Promotes and establishes education of the company’s products and/or services with one‑on‑one training sessions, in‑service education programs and support of conferences.
- Receive direction from the Regional Sales Manager with collaboration from Account Manager on case and technical support with physicians and staff.
- Support district sales strategy: work with Account Manager(s) and managers to achieve business plans. This may include inventory support, and technical case support.
- Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling to be able to provide technical case support based on the needs of the customer, including short term notice. Support all business activities including but not limited to training, PO collection and inventory management.
- Conduct cycle counts of inventory at customer accounts. Assist with resolving discrepant inventory levels.
- Optimize return on invested inventory across the district. Reposition under‑performing inventory to accounts with revenue growth opportunity.
- Recommend and monitor inventory levels in alignment with customer segmentation and pricing & contract strategies. Coordinate and execute Phase‑In and Phase‑Out activities for product launches.
- Support Area and Regional sales strategy; work with Account Manager(s) and to achieve business plan.
- Responsible for developing, building, and strengthening long‑term relationships with stakeholders including key decision makers, customers and their staff, and administrators that drive business and therapy adoption.
- Responsible for pursuing leads, assessing needs, and providing product services to maximize the benefits derived from Medtronic’s vascular products and/or services to understand and confirm customer needs, effectively engages, and overcomes customer objections.
- Assess customer needs and feedback regarding new products and/or modifications to existing products and communicates to Account Manager(s).
Specialist Career Stream
Typically an individual contributor with responsibility in a professional discipline or specialty. Delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering and overseeing the projects – from design to implementation – while and adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education.

Required Knowledge and Experience
Requires practical knowledge and demonstrated competence within job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.
In the APAC Region Only:
- High School Diploma with a minimum of 6 years relevant experience; or
- Associate Diploma with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience

- Bachelor’s degree
- A Bachelor's degree and currently enrolled in a certificate program from a pacing school like ATI or PrepMD.
Job Experience
- Minimum 6 years of work experience in the healthcare or engineering field, with a High School Diploma or GED, or
- Minimum 4 years of work experience in the healthcare or engineering field, with an Associate degree, or;
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in the healthcare or engineering field, with a bachelor’s degree, or;
- Minimum 3 years of any prior professional experience, with a bachelor’s degree and currently enrolled in a certificate program from a pacing school like ATI or PrepMD.

Physical Job Requirements
- Travel required for training, customer events, symposia, field activities and case coverage
- On‑call and traveling after hours may be required for case coverage and / or field related activities
- Clinical Specialists are required to be within their assigned territory each day to be available as unscheduled needs arise. CS’s are required to work a number of weekend and holidays during the quarter, as determined by local management.
