Qualifications

About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Interprofessional Practice and Learning, Eastern Zone, the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) assesses, implements, plans, evaluates, and supports the application of existing and new clinical knowledge. The CNE demonstrates competency in practice, program design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation of education, leadership, and professional practice. The role aligns with the Interprofessional Practice and Learning Framework, supporting collaborative person‑centered care within Nova Scotia Health.

Using a framework grounded in adult and concept‑based learning, the CNE fosters a culture of learning, builds capacity, and supports the advancement of professional practice through orientation and ongoing education programs. The CNE provides advice, consultation, and support to advance practice, maintain and develop evidence‑based standards of care, and optimize patient outcomes within interprofessional teams.

Periodic travel across Nova Scotia is required. Reliable transportation is mandatory.

About You
  • Bachelor of Nursing / Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
  • Master of Nursing, Health or Education preferred
  • Active practicing license in good standing with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing required
  • Minimum three years full‑time clinical nursing experience within the last five years in Public Health nursing required
  • CNA certification or other specialty certification required or willing to complete
  • BLS‑C (HCP) or RQI BLS certification required
  • Recent experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator preferred
  • Previous experience in education support, onboarding new staff, and transition to practice an asset
  • Adult Education Program experience an asset or willingness to complete
  • Previous teaching experience involving designing, implementing, and evaluating traditional and non‑traditional methods of instruction preferred
  • Recent professional development relevant to maintaining currency in clinical practice and education
  • Evidence of adult education theory and application, leadership development, and/or experience in the last year
  • Demonstrated initiative, effective interpersonal skills, communication skills, and innovative problem solving
  • Skilled in the facilitation of concept‑based learning, collaborative learning, and practice development
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Suite and documentation systems
  • Physical demands: setting up rooms, walking and standing, moving educational resources/tools across sites

Compensation And Benefits

Hourly rate: $50.80 – $60.63

Annual salary: $99,059 – $118,220

Adjusted hourly rate with 25 years’ nursing experience: $62.74 ($122,357 annually)
